What Praxis Video Notes is
Praxis Video Notes is a web app by Paracode: a study board for videos you learn from. You paste a YouTube link; the board keeps the link, the title, the channel name and the thumbnail, and lets you file it in folders, tag it, rate it, take notes and connect it to other videos. Videos play in YouTube's own embedded player (the youtube-nocookie domain). It never downloads or stores the videos themselves.
What we store
Without an account: nothing reaches us. Your folders, tags, notes, ratings, follow-ups, links between videos, board title and appearance settings are stored in your browser (local storage and IndexedDB snapshots). We cannot see any of it.
With a Praxis account (optional, Google sign-in): we store your Google account email, display name and profile picture, the date you created the account, your purchase status (free, trial or Pro), and a copy of the board data listed above, so it survives clearing the browser and follows you to other devices.
We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or crash reporters on the board.
Services the board talks to
When you paste a link, the board asks a public oEmbed service (noembed.com, falling back to youtube.com) for the video's title, channel and thumbnail; the request contains the video link only. Thumbnails are loaded from YouTube's image servers, and the embedded player is served by YouTube under Google's own privacy policy. No other third-party requests are made unless you sign in or buy Pro.
Where it lives
Account data and cloud copies are stored in Google Firebase (United States) in a project operated by Paracode. Google processes this data under its standard data-protection terms, including the EU standard contractual clauses for transfers. Each account's data is private: only you, signed in with your Google account, can read or write it.
Payments are handled by Paddle.com, our merchant of record. Paddle collects your payment details and billing address directly; we never see your card number. Paddle shares with us only what is needed to switch Pro on (a customer reference, your email and the purchase status).
What we do with it
We use your information only to run Praxis Video Notes for you: to sync your board, to know which plan you are on, and to answer your support requests. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it to train anything.
How long we keep it
Cloud data stays as long as your account exists. Data in your browser stays until you clear the site's data or remove it from the board. Paddle keeps invoicing records for as long as tax law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can use the board without an account at all. You can download a full backup of your data at any time (status button → Download backup). You can delete your cloud data and account by emailing us; we complete deletion within 30 days and confirm by email. If you are in the EU/EEA, UK or another region with data-protection rights, you can also ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and show a notice on the board before the change takes effect.
